Yes, believe it or not, it's happened before. The wrong girl has been mistakenly crowned as the winner of the pageant. Here are three times we can recall: 1. Miss Universe CanadaIn 2013, Denise Garrido was wrongly named winner of Miss Universe Canada. Unlike Steve Harvey, who immediately corrected his mistake at Miss Universe 2015, Garrido wasn't told until an entire day later. After releasing a statement, Garrido gave up the crown and sash to its rightful owner Riza Santos. The error was made in the score card tabulation and recounted, finding that Garrido had actually come in 4th place out of 57 contestants. 2. Miss Nevada's Outstanding TeenAmy Smith was crowned Miss Nevada's Oustanding Teen in 2014. The correct winner was Haleyann Hart. After a legal battle, it was concluded that two Miss Nevada Teens would be sent to the national competition in Oranlado that June. That night was already interesting enough, after Emilee Smith, Amy's sister, was crowned Miss Nevada. That was the first time two sisters had held twin titles at the same time. 3. Miss World Puerto RicoIn 2000, the Miss World Puerto Rico competition took an interesting turn when the first runner up was wrongly crowned as the winner. The host had actually called out the right name, but the ushers crowned the wrong girl. The host stood there trying to correct the mistake for a while, until finally the first runner up took the crown off of her own head and gave it to Toa Alta, the rightful winner. Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach opens up about winning Miss Universe and Steve Harvey's mistake12/24/2015 Wether she is being bullied or not is up for debate, but it is clear that Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, is not welcome in their crowd. As you can see in the video below, all of the contestants are consoling Miss Colombia and when Pia tries to squeeze her way into the crowd she is told to go. Upon returning backstage, Wurtzbach breaks down and sheds a few tears before returning onstage. I think that it's awful what happened to Miss Colombia, but Phillippines is also hurting to. This whole mess could have been majorly avoided. What do you think?

https://www.facebook.com/page.powerhousePH/videos/999647403415156/ As many of you know, last night's Miss Universe competition ended with a bang... And not in a good way. The final five left in the competition came down to Australia, USA, Phillippines, France and Colombia. At this point, all five girls had a strong performance (mins Australia's little trip up) and great confidence. It was hard to predict who would come home with the crown. When Colombia's was called out, I was pleasantly surprised. She was my top choice out of the 3 remaining girls and I always love to see a fellow hispanohablante win! But, then her moment was interrupted by Steve Harvey who apologized for his mistake and called out Phillippines as the true winner. I was in total shock. My mouth stood open for a good five minutes. Immediately my heart broke for Colombia, but I also felt joy for Pia who seems very genuine and humble. The way she handled the situation was the way Miss Universe should, with grace and class. Some have speculated that this was a publicity stunt in order to direct more attention to the pageant. In the end, I feel awful for both girls. If you missed the moment on live TV, here's the recap: Later, Steve Harvey showed the audience his score card to show proof of his blunder. Here is Miss Colombia being consoled by her fellow contestants after the news. Although I love Colombia, I think Philippines will make a wonderful Miss Universe, I just hope things like this will be prevented in the future.
XO The Pageant Source Giada Pezzaioli was chosen this past week to represent Italy at the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world-- Miss Universe. She is twenty-two years old and born in Montichiari. She is a model who is also majoring in foreign language and literature. Giada also participated in Miss World 2010 where she represented Italy and placed in the top 7. Italy has never won Miss Universe, but they have had several semi-finalists, including a top 15 placement at last year's MU pageant. Thoughts?
It's so close, I can taste it. Miss Universe 2015 will be here in less than a month, December 20th, 2015 aired live on Fox from Las Vegas. I have to say, I was worried for a little while when the Trump scandal was going on. I wasn't sure that MU would have a home, but alas they came through. So, here are my official predictions for Miss Universe 2015, down to the order of places. Unfortunately, Ireland and Italy have yet to crown their contestants for this year so I won't be including them in this. Also, some countries withdrew this year such as T&T, Ethiopia, Egypt, Switzerland, and few more. Top Row (L-R): Colombia, Philippines, Mexico, Venezuela, USA Second Row (L-R): Great Britain, Spain, Dominican Republic, France, Australia Bottom Row (L-R): Finland, Ecuador, Japan, Paraguay, Sweden AnalysisSo why did I pick who I picked? Well, first off I think that any of these girls would make a wonderful Miss Universe, but based off of their biographies, head-shots, and their overall presence as titleholders of their countries, I picked down to the very winner.
Mexico: Wendolly Wendy Esparza is a total knockout. She looks so high fashion, and when I think "Miss Universe", I think Wendy Esparza. Plus, Latin American countries have accounted for 22 Miss Universe winners -- not a shy number, and Mexico has had a total of 2. Nonetheless, it would ironic if she won, since Mexico had initially pulled out of this year's competition due to Donald Trump, but re-entered once he sold MUO to WME/IMG. Japan: I have her in the top 15. Her unique look is going to make her stand out, it's not often that you see a biracial competitor from an Asian country. Plus, she has faced much criticism from the media and has a great story to share. Dominican Republic: I picked her to make the top 10 for two reasons. One, because I am a little biased, the DR is my family's home country. But two, Clarissa. I think Clarissa is so beautiful and one of the best representatives the Dominican Republic has seen. Venezuela: Venezuela is one of those countries who is always top of the top. They must put something in their water. from 1983-2003 Venezuela had a streak and placed as semi-finalists or higher. Overall, Venezuela has had 7 Miss Universe winners. I wouldn't be surprised if Mariana Jimenez took it all the way and won, I think at a minimum she will be top 5. In the class of 2016, Miss USA has crowned 34 out of the 50 states & Washington D.C. Out of the 34 misses who have been crowned 11 were Teen USA state titleholders, 2 were Miss America titleholders, and one National Sweetheart.
